Serkong Rinpoche: The Monastery is fundamental in the development of the Dharma

Serkong Tsenshab Rinpoche, on the occasion of the visit and the teachings conferred on The clear words of Chandrakirti at the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute from 21 to 27 November 2022, the last day wanted to dedicate a thought to the monks and nuns, underlining how important the realization of the project of the future Monastery is in the development of the Dharma.

We share with you the transcript of his precious speech.

“The project to build a monastery here in Pomaia for monks and nuns (Sangha) is fundamental in the development of the Dharma. Whether or not all of the Buddha's teaching is present in one place depends on the presence of the Sangha. It is written in the texts that the continuity of the Buddha's teachings depends on the practitioners' realizations, the continuity of the Buddhas' scriptural teachings, and the realizations that arise from these teachings.
Lama Tsongkhapa has also spoken several times about the importance of a monastic community that holds the teachings of the Buddha.
This is why the construction of the Monastery is fundamental and extremely important.

The Fri. Massimo Stordi is in charge of this project and he is carrying it out in an impeccable way with pure intention and unshakeable faith. Therefore I hope that it will be realized as soon as possible and to this end I always make special prayers, aimed at the fulfillment of the purpose and I thank him.

My prayers are not for wanting a Monastery where there are thousands and thousands of monks and nuns. No need. The important thing is that however few they are, they keep purely and correctly the three baskets (Vinaya, Sūtra and Abhidharma) of the Buddha's teachings, that they practice them and have the realizations that follow from them, and thus act as a source and point of reference. , as an example for the people who come to live in this place.
This is my aspiration and my prayers go in this direction.

Lama Zopa Rinpoche says that he has a special aspiration for the success of this project and he wishes that all of us too can aspire to the realization of this project and its success”.
