International Sangha Forum, we're here too!

From 20 to 23 December 2023 it will be held in Bodhgaya in Bihar, India a sacred place for Buddhists from all over the world, the International Sangha Forum, which sees among the main organizers the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) and a Tibetan Buddhist Center in Singapore.
The conference will be attended by over 2.000 participants from Buddhist traditions around the world.

The conference will be inaugurated with a speech by His Holiness the Dalai Lama (also live streaming on His Holiness's official channels).
Monks, Bhikkhu nuns and scholars of different Buddhist traditions will discuss the more subtle aspects of the Vinaya rules and the role of Buddhism in the XNUMXst century.
Beyond that, other topics for discussion will focus on the bonds of interdependence, the so-called “37 Harmonies with Enlightenment” (from the Pali canon: Sattatiṃsa bodhipakkhiyā dhammā) and the Four Immeasurables (Appamanna), practices present in both traditions .

Ven. Thubten Tsogny (Massimo Stordi), president of the Sangha Onlus Association, will participate in the work, also representing the Italian Buddhist Union, which sponsored the meals for all participants.
The event will end on 23 December with a prayer meeting at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya, attended by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, with Buddhist leaders from all over the world and the entire Maha Sangha.

Objective of the forum

The main objective of the conference is to develop dialogue and ongoing collaboration between practitioners of the Pali and Sanskrit traditions.

The conference will identify and highlight the benefits of studies and practices common to all Buddhist traditions, as well as develop an appreciation and understanding of the strengths found within those traditions that are considered different, with the aim to discuss how to maintain the authenticity of established Buddhist traditions and at the same time allow the adaptation of the Buddha's teachings to meet the needs of people and new generations, in these difficult times.

To achieve this goal and preserve the Dharma it is essential to reflect on how we can support and contribute to the lifestyle of Buddhist monks in our contemporary world.

An objective perfectly in line with the main purpose for which the Sangha Onlus Association has been working for almost twenty years, with the creation of a place dedicated to the monastic community, the Lhungtok Choekhorling Monastery near Pomaia (Pisa), whose the construction site will finally be started, thanks also to your generosity, by March 2024.
