It is with immense joy that we can give you an important update regarding the Monastery project. On Tuesday 10 May 2022, the agreement for the construction of our Monastery was finally signed.
The agreement between the Municipality of Santa Luce andAssociation of monks and nuns Sangha Onlus, which concludes the bureaucratic process started in 2004, in fact it authorizes the building permit of the first Buddhist monastery, in the hills of Pomaia, on the rock as in the monasteries of Tibet.
Il Ven. Massimo Stordi, president of the Sangha Onlus Association, told the press “We are happy and thank the municipal administration for their commitment. Now the second phase begins, which coincides with fundraising and further planning. The virtuous synergy between the Municipality, the Province of Pisa, the Region of Tuscany and Sangha Onlus will lead to the realization of this work which will be at the service and for the benefit of all beings ". And again "A few steps from the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute which will always represent a point of reference for the Monastery to deepen study and meditation through its study programs and activities".
The mayor of Santa Luce, Giamila Carli, he stressed that “this is an important step towards the construction of the Park of Contemplation and Peace, the temple and the works that will complete the monastic structures. It is the completion of a work begun in 2017, with the operational plan approved in 2019 and completed by the implementation plan of 2021. Next fulfillment: the release of the building permit ".
A long-awaited signature, 18 years to be exact, in which many events took place, not always favorable, where we tried to keep faith with the commitment we made towards our first abbot, Ven. Geshe Ciampa Ghiatso who had supported the construction of the monastery to give a stable future to the monastic community in a protected and suitable environment.
Our spiritual director Lama Zopa Rinpoche who followed all the vicissitudes step by step offering his advice and prayers, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama who blessing the land and giving the name Lhungtok Choekorling (place where the teaching is transmitted and carried out) has in fact recognized the importance of its realization. Finally, our constancy and perseverance was and is a form of respect for all those who have supported us over the years, and are supporting us with their closeness.
This place of meditation and prayer will benefit everyone, Buddhists and non-Buddhists, because by integrating simple ways of living with loving kindness, compassion and wisdom, a concrete contribution will be made to a world of peace.
